Top 30 Agricultural Crops in Portugal

Portugal is characterised by fertile soils and favourable climatic conditions that contribute to the wide range of products resulting from farming.

The top 30 most produced crops on Portuguese soil reveal not only this diversity but also the economic and cultural importance the sector represents.

The most produced crops that complete the top 30 are:

In this ranking, first come tomatoes (fresh tomatoes and tomatoes for processing), vines (table grapes and wine grapes) and olives (table olives and olives for oil).

The crops with the highest production figures are not necessarily those that take up the largest area, however.

From these data it is possible to work out the productivity index of the Top 30:

Multiannual crops show higher productivity indices. Strawberries and leeks are a case in point: these crops have low production figures but high productivity indices.
