What has already been announced: on 23 October 2026, in Macedo de Cavaleiros, the Minister of Agriculture and the Sea, José Manuel Fernandes, announced a new call worth €35 million to support the installation of around 200 new young farmers. According to the announcement, the budget covers both the premium and the investment, and the new call should bring:
- Unit costs and simplified costs, with less red tape and faster decisions;
- Water-use licensing only after approval: no longer required at application stage, but at contract stage;
- Simpler and faster transfer of holdings, without penalising the application.
The opening date has not yet been announced (expected at the end of 2026 or early 2027). These changes will only be confirmed when the call is published.
